Carding Mill Valley

 Carding Mill Valley

During half term we went for an afternoon out up Carding Mill Valley.  It is around 40 minutes in the car north up the A49 to Church Stretton from The Cabin.  A National Trust owned site, so for all you members free parking, otherwise parking for all day less than £4.  It has three walks clearly marked with information sheets for all.  A visitor shop, information centre, conveniences and most importantly a lovely tearoom selling the usual lovely cakes, biscuits, teas, coffees and ice-creams.  On top of all that a vast area to explore amongst some spectacular scenery.  We ventured on walk 2 to find the Lightspout Waterfall.  As with all NT properties the walks are clearly marked with colour strips on posts to guide you.  The walk was a little steep and uneven in places but the reward of the views and the waterfall were well worth it.  However many families just parked the cars and enjoyed family time with a picnic and children playing in the streams.  Definitely somewhere to go again and a place with something for everyone.
