Another National Trust property under an hour away from us (On the edge of Shrewsbury). Quite a magnificent house and grounds.

We spent two glorious days with our guests at Powis Castle this year. Both, first day in May and the second one in August, were bright, sunny days.

Well its summer solstice already…where has the year gone so far. Life has been a bit hectic hence a lack of news to date.

The 15th Century medieval castle, gardens and parkland located between Hereford and Leominster, signed from the A49.  It is approximately 30 minutes away from The Cabin. 

It’s not quite Valentine’s Day but the birds are starting to get paired up and are looking for love.  Tuesday lunchtime we enjoyed a magnificent display from 4 buzzards over the house and Cabin. 

We have been blessed during the end of August and throughout September with some glorious sunsets, it is almost impossible to capture their magnificence but I have taken a few snaps from the doorstep to show you.

Another beautiful morning here at Oaklands Farm, the lambs were enjoying the sunshine and mild weather when a hot air balloon glided past causing some excitement for both us and our guests in The Cabin.

We are pleased to announce after a recent grading inspection that we have maintained our 4 star status here at The Cabin.

The Bennetts End Inn is within easy walking distance of The Cabin.

It is quite often when doing the mundane chores that nature seems to lift the spirits with a beautiful and unexpected surprise. We have been blessed here at The Cabin with several just recently.

On Friday 19th June evening dusk brought some moth activity. It was a warm and dry evening and whilst Mark was walking back from locking the hens up for the night he spotted two white/pale blue moths
